Iran to send human to space by 2025

While announcing continued studies to send humans to space, the head of Iran’s Aerospace Research Institute (ARI) said they may try sending a robot or a live creature before the final stage of sending a human.

Regarding the project for sending a live creature to space which was halted, the head of ARI Fathollah Ommi stated “we have successfully launched a monkey to space, and now we are conducting research to send a man to space.”

“The preliminary measures to send a human to space are currently underway and the project is to be carried out in two suborbital and orbital phases” said Ommi, stressing that the project is in the study stage at the moment.

According to the head of ARI, the orbital phase of the project will be operational by 2025 and the suborbital phase will take place before that.

When asked whether they will send another live creature into space before a human, he said “it might happen.” Since they intend to launch the live creature to different altitudes of space, several experiments must be conducted to test the selected trajectory for sending a human. It is required to launch the live creature at least 6 times, before they are ready to carry out this mission with a human onboard, he added.

“We might use a robot or another live creature prior to sending a human. If this mission is successful, we will launch a human to space after conducting the necessary tests.” Ommi stated. / Meher news /

Iran celebrates Cinema Day on Sep. 12

Foreign Ministry Spokesman Bahram Ghasemi has issued a message of felicitations to the great family of Iranian cinema on the occasion of National Cinema Day on September 12.

“During its one hundred years of life, the Iranian cinema has produced unprecedented, admirable and ever-lasting cinematic works that will forever remain in the memory of those who share a passion for the culture and art of this land,” Bahram Ghasemi said in his message on Tuesday.

He went on to add, “the impressive and influential presence of Iranian cinema in numerous international film festivals has presented a clearer and more profound image of Iranian culture and arts to the world.”

Ghasemi further thanked all the members of the great and hardworking family of Iran’s cinema who have improved the place of Iranian nation and arts in the world by making use of the diplomacy of arts and cinema and presenting an accurate understanding of the realities of Iran.

Iran has been celebrating Cinema Day on September 12 since 2000 when the country hosted a festival dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the cinema of Iran. The history of Persian cinema began in 1900 when the King of Persia Mozaffar ad-Din Shah Qajar instructed the royal photographer Mirza Ebrahim Khan Akkas Bashi to purchase filmmaking equipment in order to document the Shah’s visit to Europe.

The first public screening in Iran took place in 1904. The first feature-length film, titled ‘Abi and Rabi’, was made in 1930 by Ovanes Ohanian. The first sound film was ‘Lor Girl’ made by Ardeshir Irani in 1933. The first Iranian female filmmaker is Shahla Riahai who made ‘Marjan’ in 1956. Iranian cinema’s first and only Palme d’Or was awarded to Abbas Kiarostami’s ‘Taste of Cherry’ in 1997. The first Academy Award for an Iranian film was awarded to Asghar Farhadi’s ‘A Separation’ in 2012.  / Meher news /

Annual dairy output to exceed 10m tons by Mar. 2018

Iran’s annual dairy production is anticipated to reach over 10 million tons in the current Iranian calendar year (which ends on March 20, 2018), ISNA reported on Sunday quoting Deputy Agriculture Minister Hassan Rokni as saying.

In an interview with ISNA, the official also put the country’s annual dairy output at 9.6 million tons in the past Iranian calendar year.

Saying that Iran has exported 850,000 tons of dairy products to different countries including some European ones in the previous calendar year, Rokni underlined:  “We enjoy better condition this year as some countries such as Russia are putting some big orders.”

Given high quality and diversity of dairy products in Iran, not only the neighboring countries but also some European ones are the customers of these products, he noted.

Iran’s tourism industry booming

An American media says while some Western firms fear President Trump could yet torpedo the nuclear deal, Iran’s tourism industry is booming.

More than 6 million people visited Iran in the year ending March 2017, up 50% on the previous year and three times the number in 2009, according to official data.

The surge in visitors follows the 2015 nuclear deal between Tehran and world powers that resulted in many sanctions being lifted early the following year, CNN reported.

European airlines such as British Airways and Lufthansa (DLAKY) resumed direct flights to the country, and Iranian authorities relaxed visa requirements. And as more people arrive, demand for accommodation is skyrocketing.

That’s creating opportunities for local entrepreneurs and foreign businesses.

Unlike some Western firms, who are reluctant to invest in Iran because they fear President Trump could yet torpedo the nuclear deal, international hotel chains are moving fast to meet the need for more rooms.

France’s Accor (ACCYY) was the first chain to open in Iran in 2015. It now operates two hotels there.

Spain’s Melia (SMIZF) will open its first hotel next year. Rotana of the United Arab Emirates also has one hotel in the pipeline for early next year and plans three more by 2020.

EasyHotel, a UK-based budget chain, is reported to have signed a deal in July to deliver 500 rooms. It did not respond to a request for comment.

And the market clearly has room for many more players. Iran wants to attract more than 20 million visitors by 2025, according to the state tourism agency.

Many of the new visitors are young backpackers from Europe and Asia, drawn by Iran’s history and culture. The most popular destinations include the ancient cities of Esfahan and Shiraz. It’s also home to Persepolis, a UNESCO World Heritage site.

Many of those travelers are looking for budget accommodation, said Jalal Rashedi, who runs five hostels across the country. He offers bed and breakfast for as little as $15 a night, including internet access.

“During the past few years we have had a rise in the number of tourists who are young, and they’re individual travelers,” he told CNN. “They’re young, curious, adventurous people who want to discover the truth about Iran, and they mostly stay at hostels.”

A World Economic Forum report earlier this year named Iran as the world’s cheapest travel destination.

Americans, Brits and Canadians need to apply for a visa in advance, while citizens of many other Western countries can get one on arrival.

And because some sanctions remain in place, the country has few links to international banking networks and Western credit cards won’t work there.

That means it can be difficult to make payments in advance to secure reservations. To get around that, Rashedi launched a website to allow travelers to make reservations at his hostels, and those operated by others, without payments. / Meher news /

Iran Leader urges practical measures to end Myanmar Muslims genocide

Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei here on Tuesday urged ‘practical measures’ by the Muslim governments to end the genocide in Myanmar.

Iran Leader urges practical measures to end Myanmar Muslims genocide
Addressing a group of clerics in Tehran, Ayatollah Khamenei strongly criticized the silence and inaction of the global community and the so-called human rights advocates over the plight of Rohingya Muslims in Myanmar.

Iran’s Leader said the Muslim countries should put more political and economic pressures on the cruel government of Myanmar.

The Islamic Republic of Iran should declare its stance against oppression in every corner of the world ‘explicitly and courageously’, the Leader said.

He described as wrong trying to reduce Myanmar predicament to a religious conflict between Muslims and Buddhists.

Ayatollah Khamenei said the massacre of Rohingya Muslims in Myanmar is a political issue as it has been orchestrated by the government in the country headed by Aung San Suu Kyi a ruthless woman and Nobel Peace Prize laureate.

‘In fact, what is happening in Myanmar has killed the Nobel Peace Prize,’ he said.

Ayatollah Khamenei also said that, the killing of Muslims in Myanmar is taking place in front of the eyes of the Muslim nations, global community and hypocritical and dishonest governments as well as the so-called human rights advocates.

Iran Supreme Leader went on to criticize the Secretary-General of the United Nations António Guterres for paying lip service and just condemning the Muslims genocide in Myanmar.

He said the so-called human rights advocates who provoke controversy over punishment of a criminal in a country, are now sitting idly by in the face of the massacre and displacement of tens of thousands of people in Myanmar.

He also urged the Organization of the Islamic Cooperation (OIC) to hold a conference to address the calamity in the Southeast Asian country.

Ayatollah Khamenei stressed that the Islamic Republic of Iran should declare its stance against any oppression in every corner of the world be it in the Occupied Palestine, Yemen, Bahrain or Myanmar. / IRNA /

Ayatollah Khamenei to Hajj pilgrims: Don’t let conflicts divert attention from Palestine

In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful

All praise belongs to Allah, the Lord of the Worlds, and peace and greetings be upon our Master, Muhammad, the last of the Prophets, upon his infallible Household, and upon his chosen companions.

I thank God Almighty for bestowing, this year as well as previous years, the blessing of performing the Hajj on an abundant number of believers from throughout the world, so that they can benefit from this refreshing and blessed spring, and so that they can be in the vicinity of God Almighty’s House engaging in worship, supplication, remembrance of God and seeking closeness to God on days and nights whose precious and auspicious hours can touch hearts and purify and ornament souls like a miraculous medicine.

The Hajj is a mystifying act of worship, a holy dwelling, a position full of divine blessings and an embodiment of God Almighty’s signs and symbols. The Hajj can help pious, humble and wise believers achieve spiritual accomplishments. It can make them become lofty and enlightened individuals. In can make them become insightful and courageous elements who are prepared to take action and make endeavors.

Both spiritual and political, as well as individual and social aspects are completely outstanding and visible in this unique religious obligation, and today the Muslim community is in dire need of both of these aspects.

On the one hand, the magic of materialism is busy beguiling [people] and causing annihilation by using advanced instruments, and on the other hand, the policies of hegemonic powers are instigating sedition and fueling the fire of discord among Muslims and turning Islamic countries into a hell of insecurity and disagreement.

The Hajj can be a cure for both of these grave maladies that the Islamic community is suffering from. In can purge hearts of impurities and illuminate them with piety and understanding, it can open eyes to the bitter realities of the world of Islam, it can strengthen people’s determination to confront those realities, it can make steps firm and it can prepare hands and minds.

Today, the world of Islam is beset by insecurity: moral, spiritual and political insecurity. The key reason behind this is our negligence and the brutal onslaught by the enemies. We Muslims have not fulfilled our religious and rational duties in the face of the onslaught by the vicious enemy. We forgot to be both tough on disbelievers and compassionate with one another.

The result of this is that the Zionist enemy (that is, the Israeli regime) is provoking sedition in the heart of the world of Islam’s geography while we Muslims, by ignoring our definite duty of saving Palestine, are busy with domestic wars in Syria, Iraq, Yemen, Libya and Bahrain and with confronting terrorism in Afghanistan, Pakistan and the like.

The heads of Islamic states as well as political, religious and cultural elites in the world of Islam shoulder heavy responsibilities: the responsibility of creating unity and preventing everyone from getting engaged in ethnic and religious conflicts, the responsibility of informing nations of the enemy’s methods and the treachery of the global hegemony and Zionism, the responsibility of equipping everyone in order to counter the enemy in the various arenas of hard and soft wars, the responsibility of immediately stopping catastrophic incidents in Islamic countries, a bitter example of which, today, is the developments in Yemen which are a source of sorrow and protest across the world, the responsibility of offering unflinching support for oppressed Muslim minorities such as those in Myanmar and other places, and most importantly, the responsibility of defending Palestine and offering unconditional cooperation with, and assistance to a people that has been fighting for its usurped country for nearly 70 years.

These are important responsibilities which fall on our shoulders, and which nations should demand from their governments. The elite should also try to achieve them with firm determination and pure intentions. These tasks are the definitive manifestations of helping God’s religion, which will definitely be followed by divine assistance as promised by God.

These are parts of the lessons of the Hajj and I hope we can understand and act upon them.

I ask God to accept your Hajj. I would like to commemorate the martyrs of Mina and Masjid al-Haram and I ask God, the Beneficent, the Generous, to elevate their status.

Greetings and Allah’s mercy be upon you.

Islam has new things to say about politics, society: Ayatollah Khamenei

Leader of the Islamic Revolution said on Monday that protecting and implementing the revolution’s norms are difficult and challenging, noting that “revolution never ends” and that Islam has new things to say about human beings, politics, politics, etc.

Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei made the remarks during a meeting with seminary students of Tehran province.

Those who opposed the revolution “in principle act in the same way to counter the revolutionary norms,” the Leader noted.

“It is essential to fight to establish the revolution’s norms and create Islamic society as it was essential to fight to achieve victory of the revolution,” Ayatollah Khamenei remarked.

The Leader went on to say, “We do not have an Islamic society. We do not even have an Islamic government. We managed to create an Islamic revolution, that is, a revolutionary movement. We managed to create an Islamic system based on that revolution. These are important things we gained so far; however, thereafter creation of an Islamic government, and Islamic administrations are needed for the country. We still have a long way to go in this regard,” the Leader said, according to the leader.ir.

Commenting on duties of clergies, he said, “Today, the human being, especially the young generation, need to hear new words and Islam has new and interesting things to say about human being, society and politics which will have audience if conveyed to the world.”

He said that the clergymen should follow the path of prophets in introducing “pure life” and “monotheistic ideology”.

Ayatollah Khamenei also highlighted the importance of using media and cyberspace to send the message of Islam to the world.

Elsewhere, he said that “firm determination, enthusiastic movement and campaign” are required to solve problems.

The Leader also said that some individuals and authors argue that the campaign for the revolution has come to an end but this is a “betrayal of the revolution”.

“The revolution continues; saying that the revolution has ended, and now we can go back to normal life, is treachery against the revolution. The revolution never ends.”
