Iran’s Bushehr seeks to draw World Cup spectators

Iran’s Bushehr province, which neighbors Qatar, seeks to draw football fans who would be arriving in the emirate to watch World Cup games in November and December.

“Having follow-up sessions with the Ministry of Cultural Heritage, Tourism and Handicrafts regarding [the needed] infrastructure for the presence of tourists, this province announces its readiness to play host to football fans during the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022,” IRNA quoted the provincial tourism chief as saying on Friday.

Bushehr province is the shortest distance from Qatar [in comparison to other Iranian provinces], … and we are planning to operate passenger ferries from Bushehr to Qatar and vice versa, Esmaeil Sajjadimanesh added.

With over 6,000 years of history and significant monuments from the Elamite, Achaemenid, Parthian, and Sassanid eras, Bushehr is one of the most important historical centers of the country.

Moreover, negotiations have also been held with two airlines to transfer passengers from Bushehr to Qatar and vice versa, and those services will become operational before the start of the World Cup, Sajjadimanesh stated.

The historical and architectural monuments of Bushehr include Islamic buildings like mosques and praying centers, mansions, old towers, castles, as well as gardens. Moreover, its stunning beaches and lush palm groves make it an attractive destination for world travelers.

Last week, the head of the Ports and Maritime Organization (PMO) said that Iran considers operating passenger ferries to and from Qatar during the World Cup competitions. “Iran has considerable capacities to support and facilitate maritime traffic for [football] fans who are willing to travel between the country and Qatar during the World Cup,” Ali-Akbar Safaei stated.

“For the safe transportation of tourists and fans of World Cup teams, the services will be offered by standard and advanced vessels, which are currently operating in the passenger ports of Bushehr, Khuzestan, and Hormozgan province,” Safaei explained.

Furthermore, the Iranian government, at the suggestion of its Foreign Ministry, considers offering free visas to draw spectators from neighboring Qatar during the major competition.

Tourism minister Ezzatollah Zarghami believes that Iran must take an immense opportunity to be provided by the upcoming Qatar World Cup to properly introduce the county to the international spectators of the major event. “A significant number of travelers, mostly young people, would arrive in Qatar to attend the World Cup… It provides an exceptional opportunity for us to properly introduce tourist attractions of the country,” the minister said.

Iran, No. 21 in the current FIFA world rankings, will kick off the World Cup campaign in Qatar against fifth-ranked England on November 21 before facing Wales/Scotland/Ukraine on November 25. The Iranians will close out Group B play on November 30 versus the U.S. (No. 15 in FIFA ranking).

The Islamic Republic expects to reap a bonanza from its numerous tourist spots such as bazaars, museums, mosques, bridges, bathhouses, madrasas, mausoleums, churches, towers, and mansions, of which 26 are inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage list. /T.T/

Shiraz historical texture holds potential to gain UNESCO tag

The historical texture of Shiraz, the capital of southern Fars province, holds potential to be registered on the UNESCO World Heritage list.

The historical texture of Shiraz could be inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage list, but it has not yet been registered on the national heritage list, and that is one of the prerequisites for gaining a UNESCO tag, a cultural heritage expert has said.

The historical texture of Shiraz is one of the richest in Iran and even in West Asia due to its relative coherence and unique architectural features, Siamak Basiri explained on Monday, ILNA reported.

There is a wide range of historical monuments in this area dating back to the Safavid and Qajar eras as well as the Pahlavi period, he added.

Antiquity and lack of adequate budgets have caused the historical texture to undergo a process of destruction and degradation during the past two decades, however today, with the participation of the private sector, many cases of restoration and protection have taken place, he noted.

Celebrated as the heartland of Persian culture for over 2000 years, the southern Iranian city in Fars province has become synonymous with education, nightingales, poetry, and crafts skills passed down from generation to generation. It was one of the most important cities in the medieval Islamic world and was the Iranian capital during the Zand dynasty from 1751 to 1794.

Shiraz is home to some of the country’s most magnificent buildings and sights. Increasingly, it draws more and more foreign and domestic sightseers flocking into this provincial capital.

Eram Garden, Afif-Abad Garden, Tomb of Hafez, Tomb of Sa’di, Jameh Mosque of Atigh, and Persepolis are among the historical, cultural, and ancient sites of Shiraz that are of interest to domestic and foreign tourists.

The UNESCO-registered Persepolis, also known as Takht-e Jamshid, whose magnificent ruins rest at the foot of Kuh-e Rahmat (Mountain of Mercy), was the ceremonial capital of the Achaemenid Empire. It is situated 60 kilometers northeast of the city of Shiraz in Fars Province.

Shiraz is also home to some magnificent historical gardens such as Bagh-e Narenjestan and Eram Garden, which are top tourist destinations both for domestic and international sightseers.

UNESCO describes the Persian Garden as an idea that combines natural elements with manmade components to materialize the concept of Eden or Paradise on Earth. /T.T/

Iran self-sufficient in producing ground combat equipment

The deputy commander of the Iranian Army said that Iran is in a very good position in the field of using drones, adding that the Army has made good achievements in the field of MAVs and electronic warfare.

As the National Army Day approaches on April 18, Deputy Commander of the Iranian Army’s Ground Force Brigadier General Amir Nozar Nemati sat down for an interview with Mehr correspondent during which he explained the Iranian Army Ground Force’s achievements in different fields.

“We must have an updated organization. For that reason, in recent years, we have developed rapid reaction units, offensive mobility units, mechanized offensive units and all the equipment needed in the field of ground warfare. Fortunately, we have achieved all of these inside the country, and this is a great success,” General Nemati said.

“Today, the Army is equipped with a very strong electronic warfare and UAVs suitable for different missions,” he added.

“We study different types of warfare waged by the enemies,” the army deputy commander said, adding, “We have achieved a lot in the field of combating MAVs (Micro Air Vehicle).

“In recent wars, we have witnessed that drones play special roles, and it is natural that we should advance in both the offensive and the defensive areas. Fortunately, we are in a very good position in the field of using drones.”

The army ground forces have very advanced and good achievements in the electronic warfare field, the general also said, dividing the electronic warfare into two fields of offensive and defensive.

“The offensive field actually disrupts the equipment, communication systems, and anything that uses an electronic chip, and we must defend ourselves in this area and have the appropriate equipment, including alert, surveillance, etc.”

“As regards the defensive field we must disrupt enemy equipment,” he said underscoring that “In the field of electronic warfare, both in the field of offense and defense, we have adequate equipment that is stationed at the borders and where it is needed, and they perform their mission well.”

General Nemati went on to say that on the occasion of the National Army Day on April 18, new military achievements will be unveiled.

He also said that in the airborne field, the Army Ground Forces has achieved helicopters that can operate at night.

The commander said that the range of helicopters has been increased and they have been equipped with pin-pointing missiles. “We have also planned to build a homegrown national helicopter, which will be unveiled at due time.”

“There are no specific threats that can threaten our Establishment (Islamic Republic),” Nemati said.

As regards the tanks, he said that the tanks are overhauled and upgraded.

The army deputy commander said that there is good control and surveillance at the borders through the good cooperation among different armed forces, stressing that there are no threats at the borders at all. /MNA/

Iranians mark birthday anniversary of Imam Hassan (PBUH)

Iran marks the birth anniversary of the 2nd Imam of Shia Muslims Imam Hassan (Peace Be Upon Him). Iranians observe this auspicious occasion throughout the country.

Heartiest congratulations on a very special occasion in this blessed month of fasting. Today is the 15th of Ramadan, the day Prophet Mohammad (S) became a grandfather for the first time.

Imam Hassan [PBUH], ‘leader of youth in Heaven’

Imam Hassan (PBUH) was born in the year 624 CE. His grandfather Prophet Muhammad (S) slaughtered a ram for the poor on the occasion of his birth and chose the name “Al-Hasan” for him. On this blessed occasion when in the year 3 AH, Hazrat Fatemeh Zahra and Imam Ali (Peace Be Upon Them) became proud parents of a radiant son. Hence, we present our dear readers an exclusive feature on the Prophet’s 2nd Infallible Heir, whose relinquishing of the caliphate through a masterstroke of peace ripped the veil of hypocrisy from the face of his avowed enemy.

Imam Hassan (PBUH) the Leader of the youth in Heaven was born in the holy city of Medina on the 15th of Ramadan the third year after Hijrah. He was one of the two persons to whom the progeny of the Holy Prophet of Islam (S) was limited. He was one of the four persons through whom the Holy Prophet of Islam (S) made the contest of prayer (Mubahila) with the Christians of Najran.

He was one of the five persons whom the Holy Prophet of Islam (S) covered with his cloak. He was one of the twelve Imams whose obedience Allah made incumbent on the people. He was among those who were purified from sins as the Qur’an says. He was among those whose love Allah made the reward for the divine mission of Islam and he was among those whom the Apostle of Allah made one of the two valuable things (Thaqalayn). Thus, whoever cleaves to them does not go astray. The Holy Prophet of Islam (S) loved him and asked Allah to love those who love him.

Imam Hassan (PBUH) the Second Holy Imam of the Shi’ites in the world was Divinely gifted with all great qualities to such an extent that he was outstanding in knowledge, tolerance, intelligence, bounty and velour.

On the happy and auspicious occasion of the Birthday Anniversary of Imam Hasan (PBUH), once again, we extend our heartiest greetings and warm felicitations to the 1800 million-strong Muslim Ummah across the globe.

The Prophet on the commandment of God Almighty names his grandson “Hasan” which means “Excellent” and is Arabic for Shabar, who was the firstborn of Aaron, the brother of Prophet Moses (PBUH). As he grew up he greatly resembled the Prophet and along with his younger brother, Imam Hussein (PBUH), was hailed by the grandfather as Leader of the Youth of Paradise. Another famous statement from the Prophet says: “These (grand)sons of mine are Imams (that is, Leaders), whether they rise or (decide to) sit.”

The Prophet, who had foretold the tragedy of Karbala and how Imam Hussein (PBUH), would rise against an openly Godless tyrant in order to save Islam by giving his lifeblood, had also said that his elder grandson, Imam Hassan (PBUH), would unmask the hypocrisy of an ungodly charlatan, by giving away political rule of a vast realm, in order to save the Ummah from unwarranted bloodshed and discord. Today the 15th of Ramadhan, the birth anniversary of Imam Hasan (AS), makes us recall his “Great Sacrifice” in relinquishing the reins of the caliphate for the acquisition of which his archenemy Mu’awiyah ibn Abu Sufyan had resorted to every lie and deceit, including shedding of Muslim blood and spreading of sins in society. Imam Hasan (AS), whose spiritual authority was God-given and far above any election, selection, nomination and defection of masses, thus showed the worthlessness of the dubious institution of the caliphate that had its beginnings in the scandalous gathering of Saqifa Bani Sa’da in Medina where his father’s divine-right of political leadership was usurped, and for which in the coming generations every vicious power-hungry ruler would stake a claim, plunging Muslims into wars, bloodshed, and misery. This masterstroke of peace by Imam Hassan (PBUH) not only saved Islam and its ethereal teachings from any defilement but ensured till the end of the world the prime position of the Prophet’s Ahl al-Bayt as the barometers of faith.

Imam Hassan Mojtaba (PBUH) is a picture of piety, worship, humbleness, bravery, and magnanimity. His most prominent characteristic was generosity. It is said that he never rejected a requester. When asked why he did not excuse himself from giving to others, Imam Hassan (PBUH) answered, “I myself am a beseecher in the Divine Court, so how can I turn down the request of those who approach me.

In 40 AH, following the martyrdom of his father, Imam Ali (PBUH) while engrossed in prayer in the mosque of Kufa in this blessed month of Ramadan, Imam Hassan (PBUH) became caliph of a realm that extended from Central Asia to North Africa and which now includes over twenty countries. It was a critical period in Islamic history, as Mu’awiyah the rebellious governor of Syria was deceiving the people of Iraq with bribes. Imam Hassan (PBUH) aware of the flimsy faith of the Kufans, who could not be counted to rally to his defense if the need for military confrontation arose, decided to unmask hypocrisy by relinquishing the caliphate.

This is how Imam Hassan (PBUH) addressed the Kufans in a speech that has been preserved to this day as a testament to his right and truthful nature while exposing at the same time the falsehood of Mu’awiya and all those imposters who styled themselves as caliphs in history. No doubt, Islam will forever remain indebted to the Infallible Progeny of Prophet Mohammad (S), whom God describes as Repositories of Divine Knowledge in the holy Qur’an, and whose mission was to safeguard Islam and humanitarian values, as per the needs of the times, whether through foregoing their rights, or foregoing their life as well – as Imam Hussein (PBUH) did at Karbala. Moreover, Imam Hassan (PBUH), as the divinely decreed heir of the Prophet and Imam Ali (PBUH), was aware that civil war would provide the Byzantine or Eastern Roman Empire, with a chance to attack Palestine and occupy Bayt al-Moqaddas. In view of these undeniable facts, Imam Hassan (PBUH) indeed made a uniquely wise move to save Islam and Muslims.

Mehr news agency staff and management express their heartfelt felicitations to all Muslims across the world on the birth anniversary of Imam Hassan (PBUH) /MNA/

Qom hosting astronomy tours during Ramadan

During the holy month of Ramadan, the central province of Qom is hosting a series of astronomy tours, the provincial tourism chief has said.

A variety of astronomy workshops are being held for various age groups during these tours, CHTN quoted Alireza Arjmandi as saying on Sunday.

Observing the moon and stars as well as holding astronomy training courses at the holy shrine of Hazrat-e Masumeh (SA) are among the program highlights of the tours, the official added.

The desert of Qom offers good opportunities for observing the night sky and developing astronomical tourism, he mentioned.

Astronomical tourism represents a less-studied segment of sustainable tourism, where a dark night sky is an underlying resource, and this branch of tourism could lead to sustainable development in rural areas.

Illuminated only by the stars and having a clear sky, Iranian deserts are dream places for astronomy enthusiasts and sky lovers to experience dark night observatories.

The country is home to wide deserts in its central lands including UNESCO-tagged Lut Dessert as well as several historical caravanserais hosting astronomical tourists from ancient eras to the present.

Astronomy has a long and rich history among Iranians. Stars have fascinated humans for ages, while some have worshiped them Iranians have studied them and there are world-renowned Iranian scientists in this field such as Nasir ad-Din Tusi, who was the founder of Maragheh observatory, an astronomical observatory established in 1259, with a library, which is said at one time to have held over 400,000 volumes of literature related to astronomy and astrology.

Some countries in the world have used their regional potential to develop the tourism industry in this particular field and have been able to introduce themselves as an attractive destination for astronomy tours.

For several years, Chile has been able to become a leader in astronomical tourism by focusing on this type of tourism. Countries such as Canada, Sweden, Russia, India, and China have also been successful in this industry, and many tourists from all over the world travel to these countries every year. T.T/
