Iran made history by winning the 2019 FIVB Volleyball Men’s U21 World Championship for the first time ever.In the match held at the Isa Sport City Hall C, Iran earned a hard-fought win over the European giants.
Iran defeated Italy 3-2 (25–17, 17–25, 23–25, 25–22, 12–15) in the 2019 FIVB U21 World Championship final.
Porya Yali led Iran with 23 points and Daniele Lavia had 19 points for the Italian team.
“The final was such a difficult match. Italy really tried their best in this championship. Nobody could beat them in the earlier rounds. We knew it was going to very difficult, so we also tried to do all we could for the win. My players really worked hard in this match. They are the best and I have the honor that I can be their coach. I dedicate this win to all the people in my country,” Iran coach Behrouz Ataei told fivb.org.

The mentioned comprehensive complex used to encompass libraries, higher education institutes, hospitals, nurseries, and industrial workshops, among its other activity centers. The vizier endowed a great deal to the complex to support it with the needed financial backing to facilitate its management.
The Deed For Endowment: Rab’ I-Rashidi
To put an order on the management procedure, and to protect the endowed properties, he managed to edit a deed of endowment in 382 pages in his own handwriting. Following the vizier’s murder, the complex was ruined; however, the only one surviving copy of the Deed of Endowment points to the majesty of the scientific and social complex of the period.
Administrative Documents of Astan-e Quds Razavi in the Safavid Era
This collection comprises 69,000 pages of documents for the 1589-1735 AD period, and is related to a vast geographical territory including Iran, especially, Khorassan (to its east), and parts of Afghanistan.
The collection preserves valuable information on organizational, social, economic, agricultural, endowment, and religious issues, and provides the reader with a transparent picture of the city of Mashhad (to the northeast of Iran, nowadays, the capital of Khorassan Province), as well as the social life-styles of the Safavid Period, in the history of the country.
Al-Tafhim li Awa’ilSana’at al-Tanjim
The only book in Persian by AbureyhānBiruni, the prominent scientific (973-1048 AD), preserved to the present time, is Al-Tafhim li Awa’ilSana’at al-Tanjim. The book constitutes the oldest among the Persian texts on mathematics and astrology, and is almost unrivaled among the works of the Islamic Period in the history of Iran compiled in Persian, as regards the accuracy and validity of its content, and the literary value it bears.
Al-Tafhim li Awa’ilSana’at al-Tanjim
The author has succeeded in editing the material in an educational manner, easy to grasp by newcomers to astrology and mathematics; the text consists of 530 problems and the author’s endeavor to answer them. The easy to grasp, straightforward exposition has not, however, affected the strength of the text, the wellestablished message, and the vigorously constructed scientific method. The numerous renderings of the book into a number of living languages point to its importance.
Collection of Nezami’sPanjGanj
Also known as Khamse the PanjGanj of NezāmiGanjavi, the Iranian poet and story recite (1133-1222 AD) comprises five collections of poems, namely, Makhzan-ol-Asrār, KhosrowvaShirin, LeylivaMajnun, Haft Peykar, and Eskandarnāme, all enjoying great fame as prominent literary stories in Persian. The collection constitutes one of the masterpieces of Persian literature, and includes the sweetest among Iranian lyric and Gnostic poetry manifestation.
The mentioned stories are deeply rooted throughout the Middle East, Central Asia, and the Indian Subcontinent, and still function as easily and sweetly grasped poetry by native speakers of varieties of Persian. The mastery established by Nezāmi in organizing and editing his poetry has inspired more than 100 of the poets of the later periods to follow his style.
Dhakhīra-yiKhārazmshāhī
(A Reserve for the King of Khwarezm) Dhakhīra-yiKhārazmshāhī is the most famous and prestigious medical book by the Thirteenth Century. The book is a fundamental and comprehensive reference in the traditional medicine compiled by the scientist and physician Sayyed Ismail Jorjani (1040-1136) and dedicated to Qutb al-Din, King of Kharazm.
In addition to its valuable and organized content in the field of diagnostics, making medicines, and remedies, the book is of a high literary value because it is written in an easy language using genuine Mid-Persian words. It is now one of the linguistic references for research especially in the field of medical words and terms. Dhakhīra-yiKhārazmshāhī has drastically influenced the scientific language in Persian literature.
Al-MasaalikWa Al-Mamaalik (The Ways and the States)
Al-MasaalikWa Al-Mamaalik is a valuable work by the famous Iranian geographer, Abu Ishaq Ibrahim ibn Muhammad al-Farisi al Istakhri, written in the Tenth Century. The book contains a relatively detailed account of the Islamic Territory, which included the North of Africa, Arab regions, Muslim Regions of Europe, Indian Subcontinent, the whole Iranian Plateau, Middle Asia and Central Asia.
Istakhri has divided the Islamic World into twenty regions. Because he has personally travelled to all those regions and done field research, his book is loaded with invaluable information to make it a unique work. In addition to geographical information, the book contains knowledge regarding the scattering of nationalities, lifestyles, agriculture, monuments, beliefs, and the rituals in the mentioned regions and their maps.
Kulliyyāt-iSadi (The Compendium of Sadi’s Works)
Sadi is a famous poet (Thirteenth Century). People like his poems and prose because of their brevity, music, comprehensibility, satire, elegance, and morals. That is why it has been propagating in different countries and various languages for centuries. Kulliyyāt-iSadi is a collocation of Sadi’s works in verse and prose among which are Bustan, Golestan, sonnets, etc. whatever the famous poet has written.
The very copy inscribed in the Memory of the World Register is kept in the National Library of Iran. Written 80 years after the poet died, it is one of the oldest, most complete and most certified copies ever. Having been prepared in an exquisite royal manner, the copy represents an example of Shirazi Array in the Timurid Era.
A Collection of Selected Maps of Iran in the Qajar Era
The collection includes 500 hand-made, woodprint, or lithographic maps prepared in the Qajar Era. A total of 404 titles, the maps are selected from the documents in the Document Treasury of the Iranian Ministry of Foreign Affairs between 1779 and 1925. These maps can serve as a valuable reference for geographical and demographical studies in the area of the Iranian Plateau, Mesopotamia, Anatolia, Send and Punjab, and a relatively vast part of the Silk Road. Among valuable features of the mentioned maps are lack of publishing, their reports, historical divisions by international sources and their uniqueness. The Document Treasury of the Iranian Ministry of Foreign Affairs with more than 50 million documents including reports, treaties, and historical maps since the Qajar Era until the present time is the largest archive of diplomatic documents in the Middle East.

Iran won the title of the 10th Asian Junior Taekwondo Championships on Monday.The Iranian delegation claimed 10 gold medals, six silver and one bronze in the competition and won the title with 179 points.

Vice-President for Science and Technology Sorena Sattari said that Iran’s international ranking of innovation has raised 4 steps compared to the corresponding period last year.
Sattari made the remarks on the sidelines of cabinet session on Wednesday.
Sattari mentioned that Iran’s international ranking of innovation has raised 4 steps, added that Iran’s rank in innovation was 120 in 2013, now it is 61.
Iranian VP said that Iran has improved its ranking in the global innovation index, adding that this is the result of the attempts of all the universities, research centers, the country’s economy system, as well as science and technology parks, innovation centers, startups and knowledge-based companies./MNA/
Iranian biology students won four colorful medals at the 30th International Biology Olympiad (IBO 2019) which was held on 14-21 July 2019 in Szeged, Hungary.
Iranian students won 3 silver medals and one bronze medal at IBO 2019 among 285 competitors.
The Iranian team was composed of four competitors, Alireza Tanoori, Ali Yazdizadeh Kharrazi and Mohammadamin Kharaghani, each received a silver medal, Shayan Bagheri Baragoori who won a bronze medal at the international competitions.
The International Biology Olympiad (IBO) is a yearly Biology competition for secondary school students, who are winners of their respective National Biology Olympiad. Their skills in tackling biological problems, and dealing with biological experiments are tested. For a successful performance interest in biology, inventiveness, creativity and perseverance are necessary. IBO gathers young people from all over the world in an open, friendly and peaceful mind. Iran national football team are going to arrange a friendly match with Bangladesh in Doha, Qatar.
Two federations are negotiating for the match scheduled for Sept. 5, five days before Team Melli’s first match in the 2022 FIFA World Cup and AFC Asian Cup China 2023 against Hong Kong.
Iran, who have been drawn along with Iraq, Bahrain, Cambodia and Hong Kong, will be aiming for a third consecutive appearance in the 2022 FIFA World Cup.
Bangladesh are in Group E along with Oman, India, Afghanistan and Qatar.
The eight group winners and four best runners-up will advance to the AFC Asian Cup China 2023 Finals and the final round of qualifying for the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022.
The next best 24 teams from the second round of the joint qualifiers will compete in a separate competition for the remaining 12 slots in the 24-team AFC Asian Cup China 2023.
Iran defeated Argentina 3-1 (25-19, 23-25, 25-22, 32-30) in Pool F of the 2019 FIVB Volleyball Men’s U21 World Championship on Monday.
The Iranian team, headed by Behrouz Ataei, earned two 3-0 wins over Tunisia and Czech Republic but lost to Russia 3-2 in Pool C.
Morteza Sharifi scored 24 points, with captain Amirhossein Esfandiar adding 23 more for Iran’s win at Isa Sport City.
Argentina opposite Luciano Palonsky scored 27 points in the loss, but has breached the 100-point mark (107 points) after four matches in the competition.
Iran will face Italy on Tuesday.
The top two sides in each pool will qualify for Pools E and F, which will in turn offer two places each in the semi-finals.
The final will be held on July 27.

Iranian hospitals admitted 70,000 foreign patients over the last [Iranian calendar] year (March 2018 – March 2019), said the head of medical tourism department at the Ministry of Health.
According to Saeid Hashemzadeh, 169 hospitals which have the necessary permits, admit foreign patients in Iran, ISNA reported on Saturday.
Some 90% of foreign patients in Iran are from Afghanistan, Iraq, Azerbaijan, Kuwait, Oman, Bahrain and other countries around the Persian Gulf, said Hashemzadeh.
“The number of foreign patients in Iran grew by 1.5 percent over the last year compared to its preceding year; and this year we expect the figure to double as we have done some medical marketing,” he said.
“Only over the first three months of the current year (March 21 – June 21), 17,000 foreign patients were admitted to Iranian hospitals,” he added.
Medical tourism made an economic contribution of around $1.2 billion to the country in the last Iranian calendar year (March 2017-March 2018), according to data compiled by the medical tourism department at the Ministry of Health.
In April 2018, the rotating presidency of the International Health Tourism Conference of Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO) was handed to the Islamic Republic for a three-year term.
In May 2018, Mohammad Jahangiri who presides over a national center for developing health tourism said that Iran has the capacity to annually earn $7 billion in medical and health tourism, though the sector now brings in only one-seventh or even lesser of the sum.

Islamic Republic of Iran Railways (known as RAI) is going to cooperate with Jordan Railway Corporation (JRC) for developing railway infrastructure in the country and providing technical-engineering services as well as manufacturing fleet wagons, Mehr news agency reported on Sunday.
According to the Head of RAI, Saeed Rasouli, the two sides discussed the matter on the sidelines of the 23rd meeting of International Union of Railways (UIC) Regional Assembly for the Middle-East (RAME) which was held in Aqaba, Jordan on July 6.
“Our policy has always been tightening our relations with the International Union of Railways (UIC) members, as well as interaction with neighboring countries and expansion of our rail transit capacity, Rasouli told Mehr.
Mentioning a tripartite meeting which Iran, Iraq, Syria held in early July for discussing transportation cooperation, the official noted that such meetings are an indication of the importance that RAI is giving to international relations.
The official further noted that the UIC’s Middle East regional office is in Tehran, however the union holds meetings every six months in one of the member countries.
Rasouli was appointed as the first vice chairman of RAME during the union’s 23rd assembly.
In the event which was attended by senior officials from UIC, a number of issues such as approval of the results of 22nd meeting of RAME in Isfahan, report on the activities of International Union of Railways’ RAME Regional Office in Tehran, new activities for 2019, training needs of RAME members, determination of date and venue of the next RAME meeting, and financial issues were discussed.
A week before the RAME gathering, Iran, Iraq and Syria held a tripartite meeting in Tehran for discussing expansion of transportation cooperation among the three countries.
According to Rasouli, development of rail transport, increasing transit, development of exports and imports, and implementation of the Shalamcheh-Basra railway were among the topics discussed in the meeting.
In the meeting, Rasouli expressed Iran’s readiness for starting the construction operations of Shalamcheh-Basra railway, urging the Iraqi side to determine and introduce a representative company.
On the sidelines of the event, Rasouli told the press that a comprehensive tripartite document on rail transportation cooperation among the three countries was presented at the meeting, which was mainly focused on connecting the three sides through Shalamcheh-Basra railway.
The official further noted that establishing a railway link and creating transit corridors between the countries in the region are called for by high-ranking officials from all three sides.
Due to its strategic location, Iran has a privileged position which makes it potent for becoming a transit hub in the region.
Having several free trade zones, especially in the Persian Gulf region, the existence of a wide network of roads in the country, low prices for fuel and energy carriers in Iran, and a suitable rail transport network in the country are some of the country’s advantages.

Indigenously-produced Mohajer-6 tactical and combat unmanned aerial vehicles were delivered to the drone fleet of the Iranian Army’s Ground Forces on Wednesday.
Speaking at the ceremony, commander of drone unit at the Iranian Army Ground Forces, Brig. Gen. Hasannejad said the delivery of the Mohajer-6 combat drones would begin a new phase for an extensive use of drones in the Army Ground Forces’ operations.
“With the deployment of these unmanned aerial vehicles, any threat to the Iranian borders and even beyond the borders, will be identified, tracked down and removed before it could even take form,” Brig. Gen. Hasannejad stressed.
The drone has the capability to carry out surveillance and reconnaissance missions, and enjoys a wide operational range and wingspan with a high precision.
Other features, according to the commander of the drone unit, include “the ability to carry precision-guided projectiles, high tolerability in various weather conditions, and easy use in various geographical locations.”
Iran begun mass production of the indigenously-produced Mohajer-6 tactical and combat unmanned aerial vehicle back in February 2018.
Mohajer-6 is said to be the first UAV of the Mohajer family that is armed with a guided weapon system and is bigger than the other types of Mohajer family. /MNA/
