“The Islamic Republic of Iran, with all-out strength, has the upper hand in the Persian Gulf region and the territorial waters of Oman, and exercises smart and powerful control over the Strait of Hormuz,” the Khatam Al-Anbiya Central Headquarters Spokesman Lieutenant Colonel Ebrahim Zolfaqari said Monday.<\/span>“Therefore, given this level of dominance and capability, there is no need for laying mines in the Persian Gulf, and we will use any means necessary to ensure security if required,” he added.<\/span><\/div>\n

The Strait of Hormuz, through which roughly 20 percent of the world\u2019s oil supply normally passes, has effectively been shut down since the US-Israeli onslaught against Iran in late February. <\/span>Hundreds of ships have reportedly remained anchored nearby, while global shipping companies and oil exporters have paused operations due to security concerns.<\/span>President Donald Trump had called on other countries to enter the war by sending ships to the strait to protect commercial vessels and unblock oil shipments.<\/span>European countries have ruled out dispatching warships to the Strait of Hormuz, despite threats from the American leader that NATO faces \u201ca very bad future\u201d if member states fail to help reopen the vital waterway.<\/span>European politicians have emphasised diplomatic bids to reopen the Strait of Hormuz, as the US-Israeli war on Iran is in its fourth week with no end in \u200csight.<\/span>The conflict has already imposed economic costs on US allies, who were not consulted before the air attacks on Iran and who have endured months of harsh criticism and bellicose threats from Trump since he returned to office.<\/span><\/div>\n

“The Armed Forces, through their dominance over the American and Zionist adversaries and in cooperation with regional countries, are capable of ensuring the security of the Persian Gulf, and trans-regional countries have no right to interfere in this domain,” Zolfaqari stressed.<\/span><\/div>\n
