Iran’s Caretaker Defense Minister Brigadier General Seyed Majid Ebn Al-Reza warned that Tehran will deliver a “heavy and regretful” response to any violation of the recently signed memorandum of understanding with Washington, stressing that the country’s Armed Forces have never trusted the “treacherous enemy” despite the diplomatic breakthrough.
During a telephone conversation with Pakistan’s Defense Minister Khawaja Muhammad Asif on Sunday, Ebn Al-Reza emphasized that despite the signing of the MoU, Iran’s Armed Forces have not lowered their guard.“The armed forces of the Islamic Republic of Iran, despite the signing of the memorandum, have never trusted the treacherous enemy,” he said, adding, “And in the event of any violation of the provisions of the memorandum, there will be a heavy and regretful response.”
The phone call came just days after the MoU was finalized, and as Iran’s Parliament Speaker Mohammad Baqer Qalibaf was holding follow-up talks with US Vice President J. D. Vance in Switzerland. The deal brokered by Pakistan, brought an immediate end to military operations on all fronts, including Lebanon, and lifted the US naval blockade of Iran as well as reopening of the Strait of Hormuz which was closed due to the war.A follow‑up meeting in Switzerland on Sunday was overshadowed by fresh tensions after President Donald Trump made threatening remarks against Iran.Iranian officials have expressed frustration over what they see as continued US hostility despite the framework agreement.
Pakistan’s defense minister, for his part, praised Tehran’s resistance, describing the Iranian people and armed forces as “a rock standing against onslaught” and vowing that the nature of their struggle “will be recorded in history”.
