Iranian President Swears Allegiance to New Leader

In a message released on Monday, President Pezeshkian emphasized the divine promises that underpin the election of Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyed Mojtaba Khamenei.

He highlighted that the decisive and thoughtful vote from the Assembly of Experts marks a new era of dignity and power for the Iranian people. This selection, the president said, reflects the will of the Islamic community to strengthen national unity, which serves as a robust barrier against the plots of adversaries.

Pezeshkian acknowledged the achievements of late Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei in safeguarding the system and elevating the Revolution, stressing that these accomplishments have laid a solid foundation for Iran’s future.

The president expressed confidence that under Ayatollah Seyed Mojtaba Khamenei’s leadership, Iran would reach a bright horizon characterized by sustainable independence, scientific and technological advancement, and comprehensive development.

The president articulated that this vision would yield the sweet fruits of progress, social justice, and global dignity as a result of unity and wise governance.

He noted that throughout its history, Islamic Iran has demonstrated resilience in the face of challenges and has overcome the most difficult obstacles through collective wisdom, faith, and continuous effort. Pezeshkian asserted that today, relying on these invaluable assets and harnessing the capabilities of diverse elites, courageous youth, and dedicated managers, Iran will navigate through current adversities.

The president emphasized that despite the blatant aggression of the Zionist regime and the criminal United States, with the strategic groundwork laid by the martyred Leader and the remarkable resistance of the noble Iranian nation alongside the determination of its Armed Forces, progress and effectiveness will be achieved.

Finally, Pezeshkian expressed his firm belief that overcoming current challenges would be possible under Ayatollah Seyed Mojtaba Khamenei’s wise leadership, fostering an environment built on trust, solidarity, participation, and widespread public resistance.

The president concluded his message with a prayer for Ayatollah Seyed Mojtaba Khamenei’s success in upholding this sacred unity and in building a progressive and independent Iran.

Iran’s Assembly of Experts named Ayatollah Seyed Mojtaba Khamenei as the new leader of the Islamic Revolution in the wee hours of March 9.

Following the martyrdom of Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei, who had led Iran for 37 years since the 1989 demise of Imam Khomeini, the Assembly of Experts elected Ayatollah Seyed Mojtaba Khamenei as the third Leader of the Islamic Revolution.

In a statement, the Assembly offered condolences on the martyrdom of Imam Khamenei and others in a US-Israeli attack on February 28 and condemned the brutal US-Israeli aggression on Iran.

The statement said that immediately after the martyrdom of Imam Khamenei, and despite the wartime conditions and direct threats by the enemies, the Assembly of Experts wasted no time in fulfilling its constitutional duty, and began the process of electing and introducing the new Leader.

It said that after precise and extensive reviews, and based on its religious duty, the Assembly, in its meeting on Sunday, elected and introduced Ayatollah Seyed Mojtaba Khamenei as the third Leader of the Islamic Revolution, with the overwhelming vote of the members.

The Assembly of Experts elects and oversees the activities of the leader of the Islamic Revolution.

Members of the assembly are directly elected to office by people for an eight-year term.
