The head of the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran announced that construction of Units 2 and 3 of the Bushehr Nuclear Power Plant in Southern Iran has reached 18 percent physical progress, relying on the expertise of domestic specialists and the broad participation of Iranian contractors.
Mohammad Eslami made the remarks during a one-day visit to Bushehr Province on Saturday, where he toured the strategic project underway along the Persian Gulf coast.Speaking to reporters on the sidelines of the visit, Eslami said the two units are advancing steadily and in line with the scheduled timetable, thanks to the efforts of Iranian experts, the main contractor, and partner companies. He noted that design, engineering, and equipment manufacturing in workshops are proceeding simultaneously with on-site construction activities. According to Eslami, the overall physical progress of the project has now reached 18 percent.Emphasizing the strategy of maximizing domestic capacity, he stated that all equipment and products that can be manufactured in the country are being prioritized for use in the two units. This approach, he added, has led to extensive involvement of Iranian companies and institutions in meeting the project’s requirements. He said currently, around 5,600 personnel employed by Iranian contractors are actively working at the project site.
